Update, 6pm: One person has died following a crash involving two recreational off-road motorcycles on private land near Atiamuri on Sunday afternoon.

A second person was airlifted to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.

Police were advised of the crash at around 1pm.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.

The matter has been referred to the Coroner.

Earlier, 2.10pm: Two people are reported to be seriously injured following a motorcycle crash in South Waikato on Sunday afternoon.

The crash, which involved an off-road motorcyle, happened about 1pm near the intersection of SH1 and Ohakuri Rd, south of Lake Atiamuri.

Police are attending the scene and the serious crash unit has been advised.
