Powerball rolls over: $42 million up for grabs

Powerball was not struck this evening and has climbed to a massive $42 million on Wednesday night.

'Wednesday's $42 million Powerball jackpot is one of the largest prizes ever on offer in New Zealand – it's one for the Lotto NZ history books,” says Kirsten Robinson, Senior Corporate Communications Manager at Lotto NZ.

As Kiwis around the country imagine what they would do with a life-changing Powerball win, Lotto NZ has one piece of advice.

'If you want a ticket for Wednesday's Powerball draw – get in early,” says Kirsten.

'With $42 million up for grabs with Powerball on Wednesday, we're expecting high demand both in-store and online. Typically, most customers buy their ticket after work on a Wednesday, which means 5pm to 7.30pm will be our busiest time both in-store and online.

'Don't leave it to the last minute – if you want a ticket, get in ahead of this peak time to make sure you're in with a chance to win.”

Meanwhile, four lucky Lotto players have each won $250,000 with Lotto First Division in tonight's Lotto draw.

The winning tickets were sold at View Road Dairy in Auckland, Flaxmere Pharmacy in Hastings and on MyLotto to players from Auckland and Wellington.

Strike Four has also rolled over tonight and will be $1 million on Wednesday night, meaning it will be a Must Be Won draw.

In a Strike Must Be Won draw, if no single ticket wins First Division, the prize pool is added to the next highest division with a winner.

Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above stores should check their ticket in-store at any Lotto NZ store that is open, online at mylotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ App.

At all times, Lotto NZ encourages our customers to play a little, dream a lot. We know high jackpots can be exciting, but remember – it only takes one ticket to win. To find out more about Play Smart and the tools available visit www.lottonzplaysmart.co.nz

For customers choosing to buy in-store for Wednesday's $42 million Powerball draw, keeping our community safe is the most important thing right now, so please stick to the health and safety guidelines.

Auckland, Northland and parts of the Waikato are currently at Alert Level 3. Lotto NZ counters located in stores offering essential services can open at Alert Level 3 should they choose to, provided they follow the Government's health and safety guidelines.

The rest of the country is currently at Alert Level 2, with Lotto counters in Alert Level 2 areas open and following the Government's health and safety guidelines.
