Pyes Pa Road reopened following three car crash

Update 12.42pm: A police spokesperson tells SunLive that Pyes Pa Road seems to be open again, following a crash on Pyes Pa Road between Kennedy Road and Takitimu Drive at about midday.

"It appears the crash involved three vehicles and three people sustained minor injuries. Both lanes were blocked at the time however I can't see anything to indicate that's still the case," says the spokesperson.

EARLIER:

There has been a vehicle crash on Pyes Pa Road, State Highway 36 which has completely closed the highway.

Tauranga Transport Operations Centre is reporting that there has been a two vehicle head on crash on SH36 between the Pyes Pa Road/SH36 roundabout and Kennedy Road.

It is unknown at this stage if there are any injuries.

SH36 is completely blocked and emergency services are en route to the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

"Consider using alternate routes. Expect delays," says a Tauranga Transport Operations Centre spokesperson.
