Crash on SH30 near Lake Rotoma

8am Update: State Highway 30 near Lake Rotoma has re-opened following a vehicle crashing into a power pole.

Police were notified of a single car crash on SH 30 at Lake Rotoma at about 5.10am.

A car had crashed into a power pole between Manawahe Rd and Matahi Rd causing the pole to fall and block the road.

One person has been taken to hospital with injuries. It is unknown at this stage how serious their injuries are.

The road was closed while contractors cleared the power pole but has since re-opened.

Police say that enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Earlier 7.45am: There has been a crash near Lake Rotoma on State Highway 30, which is now blocked.

The crash occurred at about 5am. It is unknown at this stage whether there are any injuries or how many vehicles are involved.

NZTA advise that due to a crash between Manawahe Rd and Matahi Rd on SH30, the road is blocked.

Motorist are advised to follow the directions of emergency services at the scene, and also to delay their journey if possible and to expect delays.
