Arrest made in relation to BOP stabbing

A man is facing charges after being arrested in connection to a stabbing in the Bay of Plenty.

Police say they have arrested a 24-year-old and charged him following a stabbing in Kawerau on October 10.

Officers were called to a Jellicoe Court address in the town at 9.35pm on October 10 following reports of a serious assault.

One person was transported to hospital via rescue helicopter in critical condition.

In a statement released today, a police spokesperson says the alleged offender is due to appear in Rotorua District Court today.

He is facing a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily har,

"The victim sustained critical injuries and remains in hospital."
