World Hindu Economic Forum has invited Prof Guna Magesan, who has vast experience as a research scientist, academician, and a community leader/organiser, as a member of WHEF Governing Council. This responsibility is valid for three years.

Prof Guna Magesan has been a volunteer of WHEF since its inception in 2012.

The WHEF journey began in 2012 at Hong Kong, followed by successful annual forums in Bangkok 2013, New Delhi 2014, London 2015, Los Angeles 2016, Chicago 2018, Mumbai 2019 and several regional forums along the way. He was also the CEO of WHEF for a year (from July 2014 to June 2015).

Prof Magesan resigned this position to become the Vice Chancellor of Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar – a Private University in Gujarat State, India known for its biotechnology research.

There is a dedicated team of volunteers who work with the local organising team to successfully organise/conduct the annual WHEF conference.

Under the guidance of Swami Vigyananand, the Founder of WHEF, Prof Magesan leads the team of volunteers.

In addition, he volunteers for month or so on full-time basis, to coordinate with the Speakers and Chairpersons for each conference.

The speakers and chairpersons are high-achievers and experts from the world of economy, business and academics.

Swami Vigyananand appreciated Prof Magesan's commitment and involvement in promoting WHEF since its inception.

'Even when he was working as the Head of Department of Environmental Science at Fiji National University and then as the Vice Chancellor of Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar, Prof Magesan dedicated his time to volunteer. It is good to have such people on Board”, said Swami Vigyananand, the Founder of WHEF.

I have always enjoyed being a volunteer whether in organizing New Zealand Hindu National Conferences, organizing Rotorua Deepawali Festival, or organizing Hindu Maori Hui, or Hindu Maori Business Delegation to India. 'I am really humbled by this invitation," says Prof Guna Magesan.

He is the second New Zealander to be on the Governing Council. The first one being Shri Vinod Kumar, a successful businessman from Auckland and Managing Director of Nidoliving.

Both these members attended the recent successful annual WHEF conference in Mumbai with the theme 'Prosperous Society: Stronger Society”.

Other Governing Council members include Shri Anil Puri, Chairman of Purico Group of Companies, UK; Shri Subhash Thakrar, former Chairman of London Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Dr Manoj Motwani from Hong Kong; Dr B R Shetty, a successful businessman from Dubai.
